Gameplay

Moving around the board

Each player has their own monster that they control with the calculator that has the same colour as the monster. To get their monster to move around the board, the players must make calculations on their calculator. The sum of the calculation will determine to which square the monster moves. To get the monster to move to a specific square, the players must firstly select if they want to add (+) or subtract (-) to the number on which the monster is placed. Secondly, they need to type the amount they want to add to or subtract from the number of the monster’s current location. Thirdly, they must press the “Equals” sign (=). The monster will then move to the square that has the sum of that calculation.

Power-ups/-downs

During the game, the following power-ups/-downs randomly appear on the playing board. Collecting these items can either help or hinder the player:
• Ice: Freezes the monster for a short while.
• Chilli: Makes the monster able to touch an ice block without freezing.
• Shoe: Makes the monster move faster.

Loss of life

In the two competitive modes (1 vs. 1 and 2 vs. 2), the players lose a life every time their monster falls off the board. This can happen in one of two ways: Either if the monster gets pushed off the playing board by the opponent’s monster, or if the sum of the players’ calculations is higher than the biggest number or lower than the smallest number on the board.

1 vs. 1

The game begins with the monsters being placed on a random square in each players’ corner of the playing board. To win the game, the players must use their monster to push the opponent’s monster off the board. Every time one of the players’ monsters falls off the board, the player loses a life. At the beginning of the game, each player has 5 lives. Once one of the players has lost all lives, the game is over.

2 vs. 2

When entering the game, the players are briefly shown an image that tells them which monsters are on the same team. The game begins with the monsters being placed on a random square in each corner of the playing board. To win the game, the teams must use their monsters to push the other team’s monsters off the board. Every time one of the team’s monsters gets forced off the board, the team loses a life. At the beginning of the game, each team has 10 lives. Once one of the teams has lost all their lives, the game is over.

Ghost mode

To avoid the monsters getting hit by the ghosts appearing on the playing board, the players need to move their monsters away from the ghosts by making calculations on their calculator. As the game progresses, more and more ghosts appear on the playing board which continuously makes it more difficult for the players to avoid the ghosts and forces the players to make faster decisions. When a monster gets hit by a ghost, the monster will disappear from the playing board for 20 seconds before re-appearing on a random square of the board. If all 4 ghosts are missing from the playing board at the same time, the game is over. Just after the game has ended, the game informs the players how many ghosts they survived, so they can try and beat that score in a later game.

Settings

Game settings

In the game settings, the players can decide if they prefer the numbers on the playing board to go from 0 to 99 or from 1 to 100. They can also decide if all the numbers on the board should all be faced in the same direction, or if one half of the board should be facing the opposite. This could make it easier for the players to read the numbers on the board no matter where they might stand.
